Thank you for your interest in Hout Bay Montessori. You’ve found us!
You are one step closer to applying at our unique and authentic Montessori school. All you need to do is download the application form below, for the age group you would like to join, and send it through to [email protected], or contact us telephonically on 021 7903309. We would love to meet you, so please give our office a call and set up an appointment. We love to meet parents alone in the first interview; our principal, Kerin Goosen, will meet you initially. She will talk you through the school’s mission and vision, as well as its history and the school’s curriculum and general ethos. Thereafter, one of our heads of department will show you around, introduce you to the various classrooms and answer any further questions you may have about our school. Getting to know each other is really important to us. Our initial meeting is a great way for us to get to know you, but your child is who we really want to meet! This is where a second meeting will be set up, and your child is the star of this meeting. The teacher from the classroom your child will be joining will be in this meeting; to answer any curriculum based questions you or your child may have. We want to get to know your child, and I’m sure they will have loads of questions too! We want to place your child in the perfect environment, so we contact your child’s previous school. At this point your child is also invited to spend a day in their prospective classroom. This is sometimes more than just one day. They are introduced to their classmates, do some work within their classroom and get to know the daily routines. If we all feel the school is a good fit for your child, a few more forms will need to be filled in. Because our Montessori Curriculum is individualised, your child will easily fit into the classroom at any time of the year. They do need to feel expected and welcome, so we decide on a good date to start together – not too close to a school holiday – to allow ample time to settle. And so starts our journey together. This commitment is a team one. We take our relationships with Hout Bay Montessori families seriously, and continue dialogues with you – both formally and informally - to ensure growth, learning and happiness for us all. |
